Hormones and Women’s Mental Health

In this session on ‘Hormones and Women’s Mental Health’, we will discuss the role of gonadal hormones in the aetiology and management of PMDD, perimenopause depression, depression and hormonal contraception. Aspects of perinatal illnesses will also be discussed.In particular, the impact of estradiol on brain chemistry and circuitry will be discussed, with clinical case discussion and practical tips for psychiatrists to safely use commonly available hormone treatments in their practices.
